Guys,
On the 17th of November I will be attempting to complete 6 Bikram yoga classes in one day !
I will be taking part in a yoga charity day held by Olga Allon Hot Bikram Yoga Studio Director of three leading London studios. http://www.hotbikramyoga.co.uk/offersandevents.html
Doing a single Bikram class is challenging in itself but to do 6 classes in one day is going to be hard. I will basically spend 9 hours in a 40'c room, performing a total of 156 demanding Bikram postures.
Now some of you might think I am totally bonkers and some of you just already know that I am !!! however this is for an extremely good cause, I will be fundraising to help sponsor two individual children with special needs via The Special Yoga Centre. This charity aims to help each child reach their fullest potential and improve their physical, mental and emotional health/well-being through the form of Yoga. Donating your money will be such a special gift and will help to support these two families through a very tough and challenging journey so please dig deep and do not forget I am practically killing myself for the cause J
Please see below for a little bit of information on the kids involved.
Finn Holland is 3 years old and diagnosed with ASD. Finn has developmental delay (his global development is approximately 18 months), severe speech and communication delay, and very disturbed, hyperactive and manic behaviour. He started yoga six weeks ago and his mother is delighted to report amazing changes: his speech has improved, now he can verbalise words, his focus has vastly improved and he can now achieve up to four asana one after another without leaving the mat and his manic behaviour has reduced, (he is biting and kicking a lot less). Finn has generally become much calmer and receptive and there is an increasing period of time after each session when that he is very calm. Finn's therapist is very impressed by his rapid improvement and his mum is very happy seeing her child calmer, happier and developing. Finn's mum is raising Finn alone as his father passed away when Finn was only 1.5 years old. They would be so grateful for this support as the yoga is making such a difference to their lives.
James Hough is a 10 years old boy diagnosed with autism, ADHD, Developmental Coordination disorder, speech and language disorder, delayed and disorganised motor coordination. James has been doing yoga for 4 years now. His focus, communication skills and body awareness have improved immensely. Doing yoga sessions has brought much more harmony and peace in James and his family life. His mum is also a single mother (the father left when James was quite young because he couldn't cope with a child with the behaviours that so often come with children on the autistic spectrum). This family would also be so grateful for your support as yoga is also making such a difference to James, his mother and his younger sister.
I will follow this event up with a few photos/info so you can physically see the amazing difference your donation will make in these kid’s lives.
Thank you so much
Namaste
