Hello and thank you for visitng my fundraising page!
Cancer has had a devastating affect on my family and close friends in the last few years. Just recently I have lost someone very close and very special to me, to cancer, which has motivated me to take up her legacy and continue raising funds to improve the lives of those suffering with cancer.
Over the next few months I will be raising funds for two charities by completing a charity challenge - the Everest Base Camp Trek.
In recognition of the challenge that cancer sufferers face, the physical challenge for me, trekking to Everest Base Camp, will be massive - 13 days of strenuous trekking starting at an altitude of 2,600m and ascending to 5,545m. Over the next six months I will be training hard and as steep as the UK can provide! and raising funds, and awareness, with various events.
The St Luke's Cancer Centre has treated and cared for members of my family diagnosed with cancer. It provides cancer services to a population of 1.2 million and as a centre that strives for excellence it is becoming an internationally recognised cancer centre. http://www.royalsurrey.nhs.uk/St-Luke's-Cancer-Fund
G.U.T.S. is a charity, setup in 1983 by Professor Marks, with the aim of improving the survival rate of people with bowel cancer by early detection. Detected at the earliest stage, there is a 90% chance of survival.
Professor Marks operated on my grandfather, when he was diagnosed with the early stages of bowel cancer, which saved his life. http://www.guts.org.uk/
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Luke's Cancer Fund and G.U.T.S. get your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure that 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please sponsor me!
Thank you, Charmian
