Why your donation matters
For over 125 years CHILDREN 1ST has been working to build a brighter future for Scotland’s vulnerable children, young people and their families. Our vision is a happy, healthy, safe and secure childhood for every child and young person in Scotland.
Every penny you raise for CHILDREN 1ST will stay in Scotland to help support children and young people across the country.
We have 39 local services across Scotland, from the Highlands to the Scottish Borders, and three national services which operate across the whole of Scotland.
Please give generously and help us to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people in Scotland.
Case study: donations in action
Ben* is nine years old and has lived with violence for most of his life.
He has had a very unhappy childhood. His dad has a bad temper and would shout at, and hit, his mum. Ben grew up in fear of his dad and of saying or doing anything that would give him an excuse to lose his temper. This went on for several years until Ben and his mum eventually left home and went to stay with a relative.
At CHILDREN 1ST, we have been helping Ben to recover from the trauma of his experience, giving him the support he needs to move on. The support worker found that Ben expressed himself very well through writing. She encouraged him to write down his feelings when he was sad or angry so they could talk about them together.
With CHILDREN 1ST's support, Ben is starting to move on. He doesn't feel so angry all the time and his behaviour in school has improved.
At CHILDREN 1ST, we support children like Ben to overcome their traumatic experiences, so they can start to enjoy their lives again.
