I am attempting the 3 peaks challenge in May 2010 to raise funds for my charity Jigsaw4u for which I sit on the North West Development Panel. Our key objectives are to support children in the UK who have been affected by grief, loss or trauma - anything from the loss of a parent, to having being forced to work in the sex industry or been abused. This is happening on our doorsteps, not just in the big cities but in the suburbs and provincial towns. It is these often forgotten place where we focus our efforts to make a difference to these children's lives. For more information vist our website www.jigsaw4u.org.uk alternatively visit www.thinkdm.co.uk/jigsaw4u.
In brief, the aim is to climb the highest peak in each of Scotland, England and Wales within one 24 hour period - Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon. There must be a minimum of 10 hours driving time taken to legitimately complete the challenge to ensure it is a physical challenge rather than just how fast you can drive!
The challenge is a particularly great for me personally. Those of you who know me will know that I'm carrying an extra pound or two at the moment! - just shy of 21 stone at the start of my training program. On expert advice, I need to shed between 6 and 7 stone over the next 9 months in order to successfully complete the challenge. I've already started a rigorous training regime in with the help of both a personal trainer and squash coach and you can follow my get fit / weight loss progress on my blog on the Jigsaw4u website www.jigsaw4u.org.uk.
The £10,000 target is ambitious but I hope you will dig deep and give generously to a charity whos' work is going on your doorstep. Thank you, in advance, for your support.
