Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know 2011 saw me diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a rare but treatable form of blood cancer. What followed was a very tough year of treatment and recovery that was possibly the most testing challenge of my life.
I am a good news story and am now in remission with a good prognosis (touches wood) but without the wonderful support of my fiance, family, friends, the Doctors and nurses at Barts and Macmillan Cancer Support I don't know where I would be.
The harsh fact is one in three of us will suffer from a form of cancer in our lifetime and that number is growing every day. That means almost everyone in the west is affected by the disease at some point during their lives.
I cannot stress enough how important Macmillan's role is when dealing with this news. Their practical guidance, emotional support and financial help (at a time when harsh treatment regimes make working not an option) is invaluable to a persons recovery. The service they provide to people who are going through the most vulnerable times of their life is unique and without charitable funding and support they simply would not have the resources to carry on this great work.
So to give something back I will be hiking along the ancient and remote Great Wall of China in April 2014.
It is a daunting challenge and daunting fundraising total but together I have every confidence it can be achieved.
So please help me raise my target so we can ensure that Macmillan can continue its great work.
