Last year, when I 'Descended for ASCEND' from the 80ft spire of St Mary's Church Watford, with Lucy hanging from my safety harness, I vowed I would never do it again! It was an experience which I was delighted to achieve, but was incrediably nerve-racking all at the same time!
So why am I doing it again on 12 September?
That's an easy one to answer - ASCEND. Every year we help over 800 people move forward in their lives, through guidance, courses, taster sessions, job club, counselling - the list goes on and on. This charity is at the very heart of the South Oxhey community but we also reach out to people all over Three Rivers, Watford, Bushey and into Hillingdon Borough. We never turn anyone away. If we can't help, we point them in the direction of people that can. We support, guide and encourage every person that comes here. Many have moved forward in their learning, into voluntary work and also into paid employment. Our exciting new outreach project will enhance the services we offer and bring together all age groups within our community.
So please dig deep and donate now! It will give me the courage I need to look over the edge of that church tower again and know I will get to the bottom!
