This July, we three heroes are attempting to drive from London, England, all the long, long way to Ulan Bataar, Mongolia, in the infamous Mongol Rally. The only rule is: there are no rules. Once we leave mummy's arms, we're on our own, with only a 1.2l Vauxhall Corsa and our (limited) wits to help us.
Of course, this isn't for fun. It's for charity. We're hoping to raise a minimum of £1000 for two charities which operate in the countries we'll be passing through: Mercy Corps Mongolia, and Cry In The Dark, Romania.
We're not asking for much; please read about the charities we're supporting and, if feel you'd like to donate to the Mercy Corps, you can do so here. Visit justgiving.com/citdrally for our other charity page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mercy Corps Mongolia gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. The first £1000 that each of our teams raise will go to Mercy Corps Mongolia.

After that initial amount, we'll be donating to Cry In The Dark, a charity whose operations in Romania we'll be visiting. For nearly a decade, CITD has been caring for children in the Bacau region of Romania.
Their Casa Albert Hospice provides palliative care to a growing number of children with incurable physical conditions including childhood cancers, leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and HIV/AIDS. These children and their families live with the constant threat of their eventual deterioration, fatal infections and premature death. Current provisions are grossly inadequate and the children and families are left to struggle alone and isolated. A specialist team of doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteer physiotherapist offers holistic support recognising that physical suffering is experienced also as emotional, social and spiritual pain.
