My story

 

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Child in Need Institute in India.

We're hoping to raise the above amount in order to pay for a nurse to work at CINI's Emergency Ward and Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre near Calcutta for one year.

There is currently a major lack of funds for this very important project directly affecting the lives of the poorest women and children.

Across the coming 12 months we will be holding different fundraising events, including a 24-hour swim. But please feel free to sponsor us at any time!

The Child In Need Institute is the charity that we're doing our elective with later in 2009, but we are funding our own travel and bed and board, so all the money we are raising will be going directly to CINI's projects to help poor mothers and children in India.

18/04/09 1900 update

We finished our 24-hour swim two hours ago.

None of us had had more than an hour of sleep and we each swam around five hours, across the last 24 hours. The physical effort was immense, but the really hard part was staying awake! A massive thank you to Nicki, Nici and George for powering through with us.

Most money raised offline has been paid in by St Andrew's Church and Cardinal Newman School.  The remaining amount will be updated on the site on our return from India, and as we're not sure how much that is, we've put the 'money raised offline' amount to zero.
