Fundraising for Widows And Orphans International
Story
Welcome,
We are aiming to raise money for the Kenyan Orphan Project. Building on last years project and the recent "Cycle Britain" event (www.justgiving.com/cyclebritainkop), several volunteers aimed to complete construction of a school in one of the poorest cities in Kenya, Kisumu. The construction work involves two class rooms, a library and a laboratory. Donations will go towards building material and school equipment.
The project is backed by a registered charity, the Widows and Orphans international charity (www.worphan.org).
We would like to emphasise that any money raised for this event will go directly into materials for the project and will not be used for any travel or accomodation expenses. As volunteers such costs will be self funded by ourselves.
On 2nd April I climbed Mount Snowdon carrying a Hotpoint 800 Deluxe Washing Machine. This raised over £200 on the day from generous donations from fellow climbers - Thanks! Thanks to the A - Team as well!! For our next fundrasing event, a group of us are going to climb Ben Nevis carrying a bathroom suite! This will take place during the bank holiday weekend at the end of May 2005.
