Story
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name's Adele. Im a student studying marine biology at Newcastle University, where I first heard about COCO. COCO (Comrades Of Children Overseas) strives to create a better life for children growing up in poverty, surrounded by famine, war and disease, without hope of the opportunities we take for granted.COCO runs a number of projects around the world giving children an education and a chance at a better life. These projects include providing young people in Northern Tanzania with skills and training that will lead to a sustainable livelihood, caring for and teaching abandoned children in Targu Mures, Romania, many of which are HIV positive but thanks to COCO have the care, love and attention they need. COCO also organises a care home in South Africa for abandoned babies and toddlers and a school feeding programme in Malawi, providing the children with a hot meal everyday in an effort to promote concentration and learning.
I think COCO and everything they do for children round the world is so important because when we live in an environment where we are in the position to make a difference, it makes me want to try. In June 2010 I will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money for COCO. Any donations, however small, will be so much appreciated or just spread the word to anyone who might be interested! I am also organising some events so listen out, I will keep everyone posted.
