Hello Friends, Family and Colleagues,
On 13th April I'll be running the 26.2 miles that make up the London Marathon. I'm very proud to be running this event and raising money for One World Action which is a small charity who, with just one fundraiser and a team of 15 people, manage to reach out to approx. 1 million people in developing countries worldwide.
One of the reasons I have chosen to run for One World Action is because they not only manage AIDS and basic water/sanitation projects in 3rd World countries but they also challenge and change international policies that keep poor countries poor. They create opportunities for the poorest women, men and children to transform their lives through coming together to influence government policy and practice - the money I raise will make an enormous difference to a small charity.
I've found the training pretty challenging so far, to say the least. I've never really been into sport of any kind, apart from sitting on a horse which is lazy girls sport! Keeping myself out of Bristol's (and Dublin's) bars and restaurants has proved quite difficult and I have had to suffer being labelled 'boring' on occasion over the past few months - something I do not take lightly! Despite a recent injury I think I'm just about on track with my training and am confident I will finish on the day.
What I really need now is your support to help me achieve my fundraising target for One World Action. Please dig deep, it's much appreciated and is for a great cause that really makes a long term difference to people who are not as fortunate as you or I.
Many thanks,
Cliona
