My story

I'm doing it again!

After last years 10 mile run up and down the hills surrounding Wimbledon tennis grounds I am going to attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks once again to raise money for CMF. Except this time I am doing it with CMF groups from across the country. See: http://www.cmf.org.uk/fellowship/students/medical_schools.htm to see what their groups are getting up to.

Please sponsor me if you can. Last time, when I did the run I completely knackered my knees for 4 months afterwards due to poor training technique. But because I love God and I greatly sympathise with CMF's aims I am trying again! (This time  without the injury!)

We are going to attempt to climb Ingleborough, Pen'y'ghent and Whernside to try and raise £10,000 total to fund our national students' conference. This conference attracts around 350 UK and international medical students each year and is incredibly formative for them in working out what it means to be a Christian doctor. It is heavily subsidised each year and without this subsidy many students simply couldn't attend.

I just want to make it clear that sponsoring me on this page means that you are sponsoring me to attempt to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a day, not successfully complete it! 25 miles of trail and more than a thousand meters of ascent in under 12 hours is a tall order for someone with weak knees. But I am determined to do it anyway!

Thanks very much for your support and God bless,

Matt Stammers

ps. In case you didn't know donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christian Medical Fellowship gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
