Over the past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through earlier detection and improved treatments. But, much work remains to be done if we are to achieve our aim of beating cancer.

My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

On the 23rd August 2008 myself and 12 others will be attempting the Coast-to-Coast cycle ride from Workington in Cumbria to Tynemouth near Newcastle (a total distance of 145 miles). We will be attempting to complete this within 3 days, which is quite a challenge.

We are undertaking this challenge to raise sponsorship for Cancer Research UK. Most people know or are aware or someone who has been affected by cancer, so it seems a logical charity to choose for an event this size.

In addition to riding from Coast to Coast in August, the following people; Graham McCrindle, Michelle Higgs, Paul Johnson and Sean McGilligan have all signed up to take part in this years Northern Rock Cyclone Challenge http://www.northernrockcyclone.co.uk/ a ride that has been described as "for those who want a challenge, a hilly route and not to be entered without a little previous training", It ascends 1217M (3993ft) in 62 miles.

In further addition Michelle Higgs is taking part in a 5Km run on the 12th of July. Called "Race for Life", it also raises money for Cancer Research. Michelle has a dodgy knee, which may or may not fall off during this race and there it is definitely worth some sponsorship!
