Ovarian cancer accounts for 204,000 new cancer cases and 125,000 deaths per year worldwide and is the fourth most common cancer in women. This reflects the generally late diagnosis and the frequent development of drug-resistant cancer cells. These are problems than need to be tackled head-on. Ovarian cancer action is committed to improving survival for women with ovarian cancer through research, awareness and giving a voice.

Between 17th May and 24th May 2008 Euan Stronach, a cancer scientist from the Ovarian cancer action Research Centre at the Hammersmith hospital London, is going to ride over 3200 miles around the UK coastline on his motorbike, in order to raise money and awareness for the charity. He will be joined at several points along the way by various like-minded biking fools.

The ride will take in the most southerly (Lizard point), westerly (Ardnamurchan point), northerly (Dunnet head) and easterly (Lowestoft) points on the UK mainland plus the conventional stops at Land's End and John O' Groats. It's expected to involve 8 consecutive days of around 12hrs/day riding. Better get a comfy saddle then!
