Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I never thought that I would run a marathon, however 3 years ago after my grandad passed away from cancer I decided to run a 10k and raise money for charity. Since then I have joined a running club and have increased my distance to a half marathon. This year though I decided that I wanted to run a marathon, even if it's the only one I run, so I entered the Edinburgh Marathon 2014. I have seen the support that is provided to runners around the course and know that this will keep me going for the 26.2 miles.
I have decided to raise money for this charity to support the services they provide to people that really need it when either they or a family member are suffering from Cancer.
Over the last 10 years I have seen 3 family members pass away from various forms of cancer as well as seeing my mum have an operation to remove cancer from her face.
During the time of my Gran's illness, Macmillans provide support to my Grandad in assisting with the looking after of my Gran. Without this support I dont think my Grandad would have coped with the actual amount of time and effort involved in looking after a cancer patient. What Macmillans do is purely inspirational and provides much needed respite to carers and sufferers alike.
