My story

Thank you for visiting this fundraising page.

A message from Tony Armstrong in our London office for this month:

I still remember being a very small boy of 6 or 7 - dressed in breeches, a white shirt and a red bow tie as I stood diligently beside my Great Aunt turning over the pages of her music during charity concerts. My Great Aunt spent the majority of her long life dedicated to charitable endeavours and her gift was to leave behind 'Compaid Trust'.

Founded in 1986 by Lorna Ridgeway MBE, Compaid Trust was founded to realise the potential of computers to assist people who, for various reasons, are unable to speak and/or express themselves. I have personally been involved with the charity over the years and have seen the incredible work that goes on. I have seen people who can only move a single digit or have movement from only the neck up use specially developed equipment to communicate freely and gain back a sense of independence.

The charity relies on a range of volunteers and has been instrumental in helping hundreds of people lead more rewarding and fulfilling lives. Every penny raised will help to secure the future of the charity and I personally thank you for your support.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: COMPAID Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
