Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. ***NEWS FLASH *** I DID IT!!!! Just to let you know that I successfully, but painfully finished the London Marathon on Sunday 13th April, in 5 hrs and 4 mins, which considering I only managed to get down to sixteen stone and only 11miles non stop in training was an achievement. Once I have gathered all outstanding monies off some friends and family, I should raise near £4000!
I was running fine until 13 miles and then the pains set in although I did not hit the wall! The crowd were fantastic. Why I did this little run: For those of you that know me well I like signing up for challenges in life and this time I have gone for the big one! The Flora London Marathon 2008! I have also volunteered to raise an aggressive amount of money, so please, please, help me reach that target and let me worry about getting around the 26mile course. You may also be aware that both my own father and my father-in-law have suffered life threatening bouts of Cancer in the past twelve months. My father-in-law is still tirelessly battling on undergoing another cycle of chemotherapy. We wish him all the luck into 2008. Ironically, my own father had the all clear from cancer a short while ago, but on the 16th February 2008, he died suddenly with his family by his side. This was a devasting blow for all the family and friends. I dedicate this marathon run in the memory of John Lewis. The longest I have “run” without stopping, ever, is around 5-6 miles! So this is a real challenge and will mean shedding some serious body mass to get around without ending up in a wheelchair after it!! I have also been picking up some injuries in particular my lower back... so this is going to be a tough one! Running the marathon will stop me sitting in the armchair on Marathon day listening to the likes of Brendan Foster and Steve Cram and me saying “I wish I was there doing that now!”. This time I am going to do it and raise some serious cash for such a worthwhile cause. A BIG thanks goes out to my former employers and friends from HRS Ltd in Liverpool along with Relfex Actions Ltd and MBA Ltd also. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Bowel Cancer UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! I have raised my target from £2,500 to £4,000! Many thanks for your support. Craig
