Story

Updated on Mar 5th 2012 at 9:11 PM from the JustGiving API

All done (for now). Legs still feel like jelly. Final time 2hrs:05. Amazing experience with a great atmosphere. All going well for sub 2hrs until the 12-13 mile point when it felt like I had someone else's legs. More training for under 2 hrs next time!! A huge thank you to all who have donated. Everyone has been incredibly generous.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Thank you to all that have donated already.

I know many of you will be surprised to be getting a sponsorship request from me. After many sedentary years, why have I got off the sofa and am running a half marathon?

In part to remind myself and others that I used to be slightly athletic, some might even say fit. In August 2011 I found a pair of new trainers bought 18 months earlier still in the Nike shop bag. At a similar time Liv (eldest aged 7) told the lady at the M&S till that I hadn't been to the gym for 10 years. Lastly and maybe the one reason that keeps me training is that for years I've been sponsoring every little sod who has been running, walking, climbing or other good deed for charity. I felt it's time I did something and now I can pester all of you for some cash.

Why The Brigitte Trust

I found choosing a charity for my first charitable outing very difficult. I settled of the Brigitte Trust because it is a small, local charity which like many smaller charities struggles to get funding. It performs a vital service for people with terminal disease, mostly terminal cancer, providing support which is both emotional and practical.

Thank you for taking the time for reading this page and the charity would be incredibly grateful for whatever money that you could donate.

Hope I don't "do a Paula" and that I don't lose all my menisci. I suspect I might be doing this again. I have a life ambition to run a marathon, for all those moaning that its just a half marathon. This running thing is very addictive

Thanks again

James

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
