Recently we ran a teachers course in Fabidha gathering ( a temporary refugee camp in Tyre, south Lebanon. We were expecting 25 on day 1 but news had spread of our work and 40 turned up to take part. There are only 2 secondary schools in this region serving 95,000 refugees, sometimes with 400 students to a year group.
Teachers revelled in the training showing them techniques in Drama, Design, Music and Movement..and taking the new methods back into their classrooms. In the three months since they started using the CAST training, teachers have reported a 15-20% increase in attendance and marks across the year groups..prompting the British Embassy to describe our work as a 'leading light' in the region- and teachers to demand more courses.
