I‘m running the Great Manchester Run (10K) to support Rusholme Sponsors Refugees.

We are a community of people, led by students, who have come together to bring a Syrian refugee family, at the top of the most vulnerable list, to Manchester through the Government’s Community Sponsorship scheme.

We hope, by working hard, that we can bring a family over by the end of 2020.

As a group we need to make sure we are a ‘welcoming community’ ready for a refugee family. This includes finding and preparing a house for the family, filling it with food and comforts, creating links with the police, schools, jobs etc, providing an interpreter until the family are comfortable with english, safeguarding and befriending the family when they arrive and supporting them until they are self-sufficient.

We are supported by Sponsor Refugees, an organisation inside of Citizens UK.
