    Story

In December 2017 I opened a brand new Girlguiding Rangers unit in my local village called 1st Adlington Rangers. This is a Girlguiding unit for girls aged 14 - 18 and enables them to work towards various different qualifications and achievements, as well as learn, develop and most importantly, have fun! Adlington have never before had a Rangers unit so this is a very exciting venture. I currently have 9 girls in the unit and they are working very hard towards the guiding program and are very keen about Girlguiding and all that they can achieve.

5 of the girls have now decided that they want to work towards their D of E award within the Rangers unit, which makes me very proud and I want to support them in this as much as I can. I have therefore attended some D of E training courses and have now ensured I am a qualified D of E supervisor. I am also aiming to complete a level 2 walking qualification to ensure I can better assist. The girls have signed up to the D of E scheme and are excited to start work towards the award. Part of this award requires them to go on an expedition, and this needs some very specific kit, which, as a new unit we do not have. The be able to complete their expedition they need the following items:

    Tents - £125 each (need 3)
    Trangia cooker - £54 each (need 1 - would ideally like 2)
Trangia gas burner - £54 each (need 1 - would ideally like 2)
    Trangia fuel - £15 each (need 1 - would ideally like 2)
    Rucksacks - £45 each (need 5)
    Silva compass - £18 each (need 5)
    Maps - £15 each (need 5)
Expedition pack food - £5 each (need 10)

    Total of this is £938 - £1061

To raise this money for the girls, I have decided to run the Chorley 10k race. I am in no way a runner and this will be very challenging. I am hoping you will sponsor me and enable me to get the kit required. Any extra raised will be used for other items for the girls, such as walking boots, sleeping bags, waterproofs etc, which otherwise they will need to source independently.
