Story
I am raising funds to try and cover the costs of leaders who are taking an amazing group of young people out to Ieper on the 9/11/18 - 12/11/18 to take part in the WW1 centenary commemorations. Some of these young people have had the honour of going twice. The leaders give up their time every week, to give young people opportunities and life skills. The scouts will be taking part in a variety of commemorations next weekend. Including laying a wreath at the Menin Gate on 11/11/18. This weekend will give a new understanding the young people about WW1 with visits to a variety of places. The trip has been planned over the last 18 months by the scout groups leader. The group also took part in the commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1 in 2014. They formed a guard of honour on the 3/8/18 and laid a wreath any the last post on the 4/8/14.
Here a few of the quotes from the young people about how they are feeling a week before:-
I " I feel honoured to be able to go back to Ieper again to remember the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1. Having been on 4/8/14 to commemorate the 100th centenary of the start of WW1 , this really is an amazing lifetime experience"
Z '" I find it important to remember those who died in WW1"
E " I feel it is important to remember the soldiers that lost their lives for us"
Any donations will be gratefully received, the children have done a variety of fundraising events including clearing up after the local university summer ball, a fun run and selling special poppies.
Thank you
