Story
Each year in Britain around 30,000 people are struck by sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital environments. They can affect anyone at any time – from young children at school, to adults when they’re at home, work or out in public places.
If victims aren’t treated properly, more often than not, cardiac arrests are fatal. The British Heart Foundation’s figures show that only one in ten victims survive.
Of the the 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests 80 per cent happen at home and another 20 per cent occur in public places. Whenever cardiac arrest strikes, there is absolutely no time to lose. Having a automatic defibrillator nearby can save lives both young and old.
Potten End Scouts is joining the Berkhamsted Fun Run on March 3rd to raise money for a defibrillator as a donation to Potten End Village to save lives. Please give generously as every minute counts in the treatment of cardiac arrest.
More information can be found here https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/how-to-save-a-life/defibrillators
Any funds we raise over and above the cost of the defibrillator and its installation will go towards funding new camping and cooking equipment for the troop.
