Story
In Girl Guiding we want to encourage girls and young women to be their best and help them face the challenges of growing up in today's world. As volunteers we want to make a positive impact on every girl that we can in our local community.
Our Guide unit has supported girls and young women in the local community for nearly half a century. Guiding is such a fantastic organisation to be part of, as it empowers its members to be the very best they can be; giving them opportunities to develop, grow, make new friends and have fun.
However, our unit is currently facing difficulties, and may be in danger of closing.
We are looking to fund the resources for the new Girl Guiding Program. The program will allow the girls to learn about themselves and others, improving how they work individually as well as part of a team. The program will also give the girls the opportunity to learn new skills, which will benefit them for the future, and as they grow up. The program looks fantastic, and is the most revolutionary change to Girl Guiding in a number of years; introducing new modern challenges such as vlogging, geocaching, upcycling, coding, etc.
As well as the new resources, all of the girls in our unit will require a new badge book. We want to make Guiding accessible to all of our girls, regardless of their background or financial situations.
As a non-profit organisation, we want to be able to provide each girl with a badge book and a number of resource packs to allow them to complete their badges at a lowest cost as possible. Any funds raised will help with the running of the unit (purchasing of materials, rent of our hall, etc), as we want to avoid any financial hardship to the families of the girls.
The introduction of the new program and the ability to keep costs low will encourage more young girls in our community to get involved in Girl Guiding. We want as many girls, young women and volunteers as possible to keep Girl Guiding the leading charity for them in the UK.
Thank you so much for reading, and any support you can offer would mean the world to the girls, parents, carers and leaders alike!
Here are some photos of our girls enjoying themselves, learning and growing. If you can support this to continue, it really will make a difference!

My name is Jodie McEvoy, and I have been a volunteer at 2nd Pontllanfraith Guides since 2014. I was a Brownie and Guide myself, and hold Girl Guiding very close to my heart. It is an unbelievable privilege to help support the young girls and women in my local community.
