    Story

On the 24th November 2016 we received the devastating news that our precious 6 year old daughter, Eve had a brain tumour. It was a large brain tumour and it was decided that she needed surgery almost straight away to remove it. The tumour had put so much pressure on both of her optic nerves it was decided that surgery was the best course of action.

Then came the longest wait of our lives. Eve's tumour was so rare the medical professionals struggled to categorize it straight away. It was sent to Great Ormond Street and Germany for thorough analysis. After 7 weeks we finally got the diagnosis that Eve had Myoepithelial Carcinoma and she has just started a course of Chemotherapy spread over 12 weeks.

We are currently in the process of applying for funding from the NHS to fund Proton Beam Therapy in America. We are hoping and praying that our application is accepted so Eve can receive the treatment she needs to prevent the tumour from ever growing back. If we are successful with our application then the treatment, flights and accommodation is all paid for. If we are not successful we will need in the region of £150,000 to fund the treatment, flights, accommodation, car hire and living costs ourselves.
We've been told we will be in America for approx 9 weeks while Eve has her treatment. There will be an initial 2 week assessment period, 6 weeks therapy followed by a further week of assessments.

If our application for funding is not accepted, we will do all we can to raise £150,000 so Eve can receive the Proton Beam Therapy.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

    16.2.17 update

We have been to see our consultant and Eve's tumour has been re-named as an Astroblastoma - an extremely rare tumour that has only been discovered in the last 17 years or so.. The new naming of the tumour does not affect our case for Proton Therapy, but it does mean we have to re-submit our application to the panel.

Hello supporters! I am thrilled to announce that the NHS have agreed to fund Eve's treatment in America and therefore I will be closing the Justgiving account with immediate effect. We got the call at close of business today and we may be flying out on Sunday. Thank you so much for all of your donations and continued support for our daughter. Eve has packed her case in readiness for the flight with all her essential items! Thank you for believing in Eve. #ibelieveinEve

Hello! We are just coming to the end of our second session of Chemotherapy and hopefully we will be home tomorrow. We are still waiting to find out if we have been successful with the IFR. In the meantime, we are staying strong and continuing with fundraising. Thank you so much to every single person that has contributed to Eve's fund. Thank you 😘

Hello readers. I have changed the amount of Eve's target as I am so scared that we will not get the funding we need for Eve to have Proton Therapy. It is quite something to know that your daughters health and future is in the hands of strangers and whether the treatment itself offers 'good value for money'. How can the future of a 6 year old be dependent on money? We won't know the decision of our application for possibly a further 8 weeks, and this will give us little time to fund raise for the £150,000. Please help if you can. Thanks

Hi Phillipa, I picked up one of your crowdfunding slips at Gravity Xscape this evening and wanted to help out towards Eve's treatment. I hope this gets you a little closer to your target. Best wishes.

I really hope your application is successful. Eve touched my heart when I met her on ward L49 a couple of weeks ago. (I am the nurse who played dentists with Eve). Best of luck x
