    Story

    INTRODUCTION
Let’s Play Tennis in Droitwich Lido Park has been set up to work alongside Wychavon Council with the aim of improving the public tennis courts in Droitwich Lido Park for the benefit of everyone in the town. Our vision is a town/local community where everyone has the opportunity to play tennis on great public courts any day of the week with unrestricted access and free of charge.

In addition, we are committed to working with other local organisations and partners to encourage people to take up the sport by running various courses at the venue for as long as we can.

Campaign leader Elaine Ball started the campaign in June 2016 after visiting the Park wanting to play with her two young children. There she found the courts full of pot holes and cracks and set off on a mission to get this changed.

    THE TARGET
To refurbish all four courts will cost around £40000, bringing them up to a safe standard with a surface that will last many years. Wychavon Council have pledged a significant amount towards this total, and with some great support already received from individuals, businesses and organisations across the community, it is looking as if the new courts will be laid in the spring of 2018 provided the final target can be reached.

    LEAVE A LIDO LEGACY
The Leave a Lido Legacy gives individuals and business the opportunity to sponsor an area of the courts for a relatively small amount of money. Contributors will be recognised on a weatherproof “board of fame” which Wychavon have agreed can be erected next to the courts on completion of the project. As such, individual names, family names or businesses will in a small way become part of the town history and be on display for years to come, recognising the support that they gave. There is also the opportunity for ten main sponsors to head the list, showing their support for the town and playing a major part in reaching the goal of a fantasic free facility in the town park.
