WILD IN WHITLEY BAY!
Whitley Bay Big Local is supporting this year's Community Carnival with £12,000 and are hoping to raise further funding from local businesses, other sponsors and local people who would like to support the Carnival.

We estimate that 12,000 people visited Carnival last year.
So this year we are hoping to raise £12,000!

This will pay for artworks, costume and dance workshops with local children and the wider community and getting people involved in the procession - Carnival's unique and memorable community celebration. An amazing event for the whole community to be proud of!

Carol Alevroyianni, Carnival Producer, said: “In 3 years Carnival has become a hugely popular event which the community has really got behind. Last year, thanks to additional funding from The Arts Council, the carnival was not only a spectacular event featuring a wide range of professional acts but we were able to really reach out in to the community and touch people who might not normally get involved in such an event."

Whitley Bay Big Local has renewed its support for the carnival, providing the necessary funding to stage the event and North Tyneside Council will manage the necessary road closures. However this year, organisers are hoping that residents and local businesses will also throw their weight behind the weekend long community carnival in order to help meet additional costs and fill the funding gap as community arts funding has become more difficult to achieve.

Carnival is about getting Whitley Bay on the map - getting our town talked about in a good way, bringing everyone together to celebrate the best we have to offer.
