Hi

My name is Abbie and I am part of a team of 36 scouts from West Sussex that have been selected to attend the 24th World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA in 2019. The event is to be jointly hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts of Canada and the Scout Association of Mexico, the Jamboree will take place from the 22nd July to the 2nd August 2019 at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve.

I will be working with the rest of my team to raise £3500 each over the next 18 months. A percentage of the money raised will go towards helping Scouts from less fortunate countries to attend supporting the aim of the Jamboree "Unlock a new world", and also to help fund the cost for us to attend.

I am very proud and honoured to have been selected to attend this jamboree as I have only been part of the scouts for 2 years. In that time i have become a patrol leader, I love being a scout learning new life skills and then passing these skills onto other fellow scouts.

By participating in this amazing event I will gain a once in lifetime experience. Giving me the opportunity to learn about may different cultures and gain invaluable life skills, which I can then pass on to other scouts, cubs, beavers, explorers and leaders from my local scout groups.

I am actively fundraising as part of a team and on my own to raise the necessary funds by participating and organising different events such as cake sales, duck races, quiz nights and sponsored challenges. If you have any suggestions for fundraising please let me know.
