I have decided to organise a Charity Sky Dive to raise money for Kirklees in Recovery for people with drink or drug addictions. I have chosen this particular association as it is one close to my heart. For those of you that don't know, my Dad suffered from an alcohol addiction and sadly passed away in 2014, shortly before my 15th birthday. Kirklees in Recovery worked with my Dad to plan the best road to recovery. I honestly saw a change in him, a change so good he started to plan for his future, without knowing how long we would really have left in our happy but slightly dis-functional family. Before my Dad passed away I got sent a video of him training for a Sky Dive which I frequently look at even now to see that he was doing something that made him happy. That's where I got my idea from to use it as a fund raising event as I would really like to finish something that he started.I take my hat off to the people working in this association as I know first hand some of the difficulties they have to face every day but I also know how amazing it is to see the small improvements in the people they work with. The money I donate to Kirklees in Recovery will go towards making a difference to the lives of those who they help by providing things like tea, coffee and biscuits for drop-in services. It will also aid training courses and residential learning for the clients which can be the difference between recovery and relapse in their lives. Donations can also provide extra services in more rural communities, reaching out to those who are more isolated.I never thought I would loose my Dad as soon as I did but I will always be so proud of the man my Dad was and I hope I am making him proud now by inheriting his strong and positive outlook in life but more than anything by making the most of what I have now. I am raising money for what I believe to be an amazing cause and I would like to thank you in advance for any of your kind donations.
