This year I have the honour of being Club Captain at Colmworth & North Beds Golf Club. As is tradition, the Captain raises money in support of a cause or charity. I gave much thought of what I wanted to support in that I wished it be aimed at the young, low administrative costs and golf related, my decision was therefore made quite easily when our club pro Adrienne Engelman wrote to the Members Committee seeking funds to support her initiative of ‘Adie’s Junior Golf Academies’. As she wrote…

“Diversity and inclusion in golf is a passion of mine and with the club's help it is my hope that more kids from all sections of society are provided with the opportunity to 'Get into golf' (for example, I currently teach several children from varying socioeconomic backgrounds and with various disabilities [blind, deaf, autistic, etc.], but my wish is to teach, nurture and coach many more).”

This fitted perfectly with my requirement and so 100% of the monies raised throughout my tenure as Captain will be used to support Adie in this initiative providing subsidies where required, equipment, prizes and anything else to encourage and promote the game to children.
