Story
On the 9th September, I will be taking part in the Great North Run, the biggest half-marathon in the world.
Any money that is kindly donated will be used to fund much needed equipment and new sensory lighting. We are aiming to create a soothing and relaxing environment using various types of sensory activities.
Based close to the centre of Leeds, our Opportunities Service provides a broad range of community-based activities for people with learning disabilities. With the new sensory lighting, we can help those who have learning difficulties interact with the world around them, but in a safe environment that helps build up their confidence and abilities.
Your donations will help fund the following: Fibre optics (wall carpet and waterfall light), UV lights, Bubble tube, Seating and bean bags , Flooring foam mats and a rug.
Any donations will be gratefully received and I hope you agree will be going to a great cause.
With just over three weeks to go now… I will, of course, keep you updated on my training progress.

6 years agoI completed my final short training run this weekend and I am now resting my legs ready for the race day. I’ve also dusted off my Affinity Trust t-shirt from last year – so all set for Sunday. I am totally overwhelmed by all the kind donations and words of encouragement. Thank you to you all, I know Leeds Opportunities really do appreciate it.

6 years agoAs part of my training, I recently completed the scenic Burnham Beeches half marathon. It took me 2:03:53, which I’m certainly pleased with due to the many undulating hill climbs. Thank you for the kind donations so far.
