    Story

On May 4th 2018, I was visiting a school in the Eastern part of Nigeria, where I was to give a speech about healthy life style and how to regain confidence in life. Before the speech, I urgently needed to use the female toilet. On my way into the ladies toilet I saw two young girls standing in front of the female toilet ,one was crying and the other consoling the other , I was so pressed I ran straight in. Out of curiosity, I asked both girls what was wrong, that I could be of help; at first they were up tight and lied, all was well. As they were about leaving, I saw that one of the girls uniform was stained, with blood.
I quickly called her attention, asked if she knew bloodstains were on her uniform. She said yes that the cloth she used as pad has already filled up and she wanted to wash and dry the cloth.
In the process of waiting, she was supposed to use toilet tissues to support herself but there were none. I immediately asked for where to buy any sanitary pad to help the young girls who were terrified of been seen by her mates. We were able to support her and asked, if she wanted to be excused for the day. After the encounter with the young girls, I knew from that point forward my speech for that day changed.
Every month young girls suffer awful pain and traumatised because they are unable to afford sanitary pads. This affect their mental well-being and confidence in life. I have been working with various schools on ground on ways to educate and support these young girls to understand the importance of hygiene using the appropriate sanitary pads in order not to get infections, but still there is a struggle reaching out to remote rural areas.
It was not only the physical side of their mental health affected; but also their confidence knowing when the next period approaches and they can’t afford it is a continuous nightmare. Most 12- 16-year-old girls have to deal with other related factors that are beyond their age. These has been extremely challenging as now I recently found out on my recent hospital visit, that most women who recently given birth struggle with sanitary pads, this in turn cause further infection and are unable to take care of their new born.
These young teenage girls and women facing these challenges are the sole reason I have set up this page. I will be doing different fundraising over the next few months and hope that you will help me get to my goal of raising as much money as possible for such an outstanding cause.
I will be posting updates and would be over the moon if you could donate to this amazing cause, even if the donation is only small, I believe every little helps and counts.

    Many thanks
    xoxo
