Story
On the 28th of November, 2016, a week before my 15th birthday, I lost my mother, Sobia Muskeen. Words cannot explain the pain of losing your mother at any age, in any case. But having depended on our mother for so much, including a lot of sickness and loss, losing our mother was like losing our family crutch.
As a child, or a teenager, it's very hard to show your parents just how much you appreciate all that they do for you. I had always aspired to do the greatest things. My mum sacrificed her life for her children. I planned to show her one day how much that meant to me. I never got the chance to.
Two years later, there hasn't been a day that has gone by without me thinking, doing or needing something that reminds me of her. The people we are, the places we have reached, the things we have achieved are all down to the work and encouragement of one phenomenal woman.
But many other children across the world don't have the luxury of having parents until the age of 14. Our own brothers don't have this luxury. And many parents don't have the luxury of giving to their children the way our mother could give to us.
We have decided that we would like to raise money to have a deep tube well built for Rohingya refugees, parents and children, who have arrived in Bangladesh. This is in the spirit of our mother's generosity and kindness, something everyone who knew her can vouch for. We aim to raise £1000, by March 31st (which also happens to be Mothers Day!). If you can't give very much, as my mother used to say (in a very Mancunian accent) "every penny makes a pound!". And if you can't donate, just forwarding this message can help us reach so many.
Jazakallah Khair x
