My friend's little girl was born in October 2016 and suffered HIE due to complications at birth. The best treatment for this condition is not available on the NHS and most of the best treatments are in the USA, so there is also the cost of flights and accommodation for days and in fact probably weeks to take into consideration as well.

Different methods of fundraising have already been put forward by many very good people, but this is only the beginning as the cost of the treatment and travelling and accommodation are inevitably going to run into many thousands of pounds. And every pound and penny will count in the quest for this amazing little girl to get the best possible treatment.

I have decided to undertake a sponsored swim this autumn to help fund the treatment. I will be swimming 1 mile of my local pool as my good deed for this very good cause and I thought it would be best to set up this page a few months in advance in order to attract as many sponsors and as much sponsorship money as possible.
