Story
Friends of Cumbernauld care home us the registered charity for Cumbernauld Care Home in Greenfaulds. The home provides 24 hour nursing care for people living with Dementia with complex cognitive needs. They run a busy activities programme to make sure the residents get the most out of every day, including day trips out and regular visits from entertainers. Fish and Chips from the chippy to meal out at a local restaurant.
We are in the fortunate position of being able to provide funds for our family member but not all residents can do this and the Care home provides the funds. These funds are low especially after buying toiletries and christmas presents for the residents.
I thought i would raise some money to boost funds and what better way to do it than partake in my favourite pastime, cycling and do a wee cycle in aid of the care home. In a few weeks i will be cycling from Hanoi in north vietnam down to Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) then accross to Moc Bai and into Cambodia . Cycling up to Siem Reap.
A total of 1096 miles over a 3 week period which includes a few rest days. 2 of us cycling so no drafting behind a group! I am thankful that i am healthy enough to attempt this.
WISH ME LUCK and Thankyou in advance for your kind donation to Friends of Cumbernauld Care Home.
i will update this page regularly with my progress(where wifi available).

5 years agoWell we have completed our challenge. We have cycled over mountains through rain in Vietnam from Hanoi to Danang and then hot hot sunshine from Dalat to Saigon , crossing the Cambodian border on foot. Then cycling from Phnom Phen to Siem Riep. It has been the most challenging cycling I've ever done roads are bumpy and at times so busy with traffic. The people we have met and the things we have experienced have been so fantastic that u would do it all again. Thankyou everyone for supporting us.Now for some rest and relaxation in Kuala Lumpur

The last few days we have a struggled Hot and tired. cycling along national route 5 from Phnom Penh i said a prayer for the thousands of Cambodians who walked this road unsuccessfully fleeing the Khmer Rouge
