Our mum, Ali, was diagnosed with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis in 1994 at the age of 29/30. Over the years we have seen our mum steadily deteriorate from being able-bodied, to being permanently in her wheelchair and bed, and relying on carers. After years of battling and fighting off infection after infection, unfortunately, Ali lost her battle on 2nd December 2018 after a short stint in hospital with a severe case of pneumonia. She was only 54.

She left behind her children, Nikki and Lee, who both loved her dearly and did everything they could to enable Ali to live as independently as she could within the community, with the help of carers, instead of having to go into a nursing home, which she never wanted.

Ali was a keen equestrian from a young age and owned her first horse at the age of 9. She passed this passion on to her daughter, Nikki and they owned a horse together for a long time and even in her wheelchair, she would go to the stables in whatever weather, because it's what she loved. Ali always spoke about wanting a horse and carriage for her 'send off' because she never had one for her wedding. This is what we would like to raise money for.

Our mum was a much loved character and she always tried to be in good spirits despite the challenges she faced. She did the best she could for us and we were there til her last breath. We want to give her the send off she wanted and deserves.

Any help is massively appreciated in order to give our mum an end-of-life celebration. She was once the life and soul of the party, and will want to be remembered that way.
