    Story

Hi everyone, I’m going to Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro between 3rd January – 10th January.

I’ve never taken part in a climb of this nature before so this is a mammoth challenge for me that’s going to involve plenty of training, blood, sweat, tears and probably a few blisters on the way...

Jerusalem – girls school and welfare centre

There is a grave shortage of quality classrooms in the official school system in East Jerusalem and since 2001, a number of NGO’s have been seeking to fix this issue by building schools and welfare centres. There is a shortage of around 2,000 classrooms in the official public system in East Jerusalem. In 2016, just 44 new classrooms were added at schools.Lack of resources and strategy limit opportunioty for students to act positively. The crowded classrooms, lack of play areas and facilities make it difficult for students. Public schools are crowded with an average of 40 students per class. This affects students engagement in the teaching process especially at primary level. For those families who cannot afford private education, mainly poor families and orphan children, these facilities are all there are to offer.

Human Appeal will be establishing an education and welfare centre for girls in Jerusalem which will cater for 600 students of which 40% of places will be allocated to orphans. The school will be constructed inside the wall in Jerusalem and will provide Palestinian students the opportunity to enter a fully operational school. The school will also include a kinder garden.

safe and culturally appropriate learning space for orphans and other Palestinian children in East Jerusalem.
