    Story

We had a go at crowdfunding at the start of our bee project! thank you to everyone who shared and donated we only managed to raise 3% of our target but still that 3% helped towards building a hive so thank you so much!

We are back to crowdfunding as we have had so much interest in our local honey that we now know we can turn a hobby we love into a real job, and look after more honey bees! which is great for us and our environment.

We are looking to raise money for additional hives and colonies and all the extra equipment needed inside of the hives. There is more to it than meets the eye.

We want to help protect our bees through beekeeping... Over 75% of all food crops require pollination and the honey bees contribute heavily to this process.
The decline of bees in recent years is indisputable in the uk and europe. In 2014 a study revealed that nearly 30% of honey bee colonies died in the uk during winter 2012-2013.

WE WANT TO SLOW THIS DECLINE!

Without beekeeping honey bees would struggle to survive due to disease, parasites, pesticides and starvation in case of difficult weather.

There are many benefits for the local community.
We can protect our honey bees.
Increase number of pollinators in the area which will benefit local farmers, allotments and gardens surrounding the apiary.
    Produce local honey.
And overall contribute to a better environment and foster biodiversity in the local area.

As a young family, starting a business was never going to be easy or cheap but with the support of a strong local community we can all benefit from this great project!

If you donate please send me a message either on facebook or twitter so we can arrange a gift for you from our hives :)

Thank you for taking the time to read our cause.

Amy & Tom @ Bantham Bees

We look forward to sharing our beautiful honey with you all.

Personally I don't like honey - but bees are so important and as someone who has known and enjoyed Bantham for all my life this is just a little something and hope it helps.
