Tanzania is in East Africa and is one of the poorest economies in the world. About 75% of Tanzanians live in rural households where there is very little opportunity for economic growth and access to safe water and sanitation is rare. Raleigh work closely with communities to provide knowledge about sanitation and safe water as well as ways they can improve their own well-being.

I decided that I wanted to do something worthwhile and purposeful during my year out before university, and Raleigh have provided me with a route to do this. On the 30th September I will travel to Tanzania for 10 weeks to help with community and environmental projects. There, along with a team of other young people, I hope to help a community improve their way of living. We will do this by educating the community with proper sanitation methods and by providing community facilities such as childhood development centres to increase health and community engagement. I will also undertake a project that will help the environment.

Raleigh work in communities where our support is needed, so that we can inspire a long term change for the better. Every penny that I can raise will go towards Raleigh projects that will benefit the communities they help on the whole. I will be working extremely hard whilst in Tanzania to make a difference to people's lives and any amount of money that you can donate will go straight to those people.
