PLEASE, LET’S HELP THESE CHILDREN REACH FOR THEIR DREAMS. :)

According to figures from the Department of Education and the National Statistical Coordination Board in the Philippines, 1 in 6 Filipino kids will not attend school. Further, only 7 out of 10 kids will complete elementary school. Of those 7 kids, only 4 will complete high school, and of those 4, 1 will proceed onto university.

In the Philippines, education is considered a privilege rather than a right. Children from less developed areas are willing to travel 1-2 hrs by foot because they know that inspite of the long journey, they are still privileged. They’re determined to reach for their dreams. I volunteered as a tutor for these kids and it’s true that some of them can’t read nor write even at the age of 7.

We have been blessed us to be a blessing to others. It's only worth £250 to send a child to secondary school for a year. Not everyone has the capacity to give, so I hope we appreciate that we have been given that capacity to help and serve those who are in need. Because at the end of the day, everything we have belongs to the Lord. As we continue to receive many gifts, may we not lose our focus on the giver of gifts. :)

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44)

God doesn’t look at the amount, He looks at the heart. I hope we give more than just our spare change to Him :)
