I will be trying to pedal like crazy around the stunningly beautiful 109 km Cape Town Cycle Tour course The Cape Town Cycle Tour on 10th March for The Click Foundation which develops, provides and supports online self-paced English and numeracy and literacy programmes to children in underprivileged primary schools in South Africa.

Weak student performance in literacy & numeracy in Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3) constitutes one of the major factors leading to poor learning outcomes in later grades. The Click Foundation programmes offer young learners the opportunity to work at their own pace through fun and enjoyable activities, navigating their learning journey by means of technology. In doing so, the Click Foundation is not only addressing the literacy crisis but also equipping these young learners with the technological skills required for future success.

To set up and run the program in one school, the costs are as follows:

• Devices ±R2,500 each (c£140)

• Headphones ±R200 each (c£11)

• Facilitator stipend R3500 per month each (£195)

• Internet installation R5000 (once off) c£275)

• Internet subscription R500 per month (c£28)

• Logins and Management R500 per learner for one year (c£28)
