Rachel, Clare & I went through primary and secondary school together and even though lifes journey has taken us in different directions, we are still those same schoolgirls at heart.

Rachels younger sister Laura is a published author & explains below the cruel turn of events that have affected our childhood friend and the reason that we are walking the route between our old schools on the 28th July - its not a massive distance, but those that know me know that this will still be a physical challenge for me, but I am grateful for every step & every penny to help a friend.

“Rachel Timmins gave birth to her second son, Jay, on 20th June 2016. She and husband Scott already had Louie, aged four. Nine days after Jay's birth, Rachel had a massive stroke. The following night, she had a further bleed on the brain and underwent two surgeries to stop the bleeding. She was in hospital for many months.

In March 2017, Rachel left hospital and moved to a care home for people with brain injuries, where she is still living. In September, she had cranioplasty, a surgery to rebuild her skull using a metal plate. The hope is that Rachel will be able to return home at some point, but there is no planned date as yet. Rachel will require signifcant home renovations and equipment when this time comes.”

if you would like to join us on the walk you would be very welcome, it would be lovely to have a crowd of friendly faces, but a just a pound or two to spur us on would also be wonderful.
