Annabel was born on the 7/2/16,seemingly healthy and just perfect.Myself,my husband and her 3 siblings were over the moon. Sadly on the 8/2/16(her Daddy's Birthday)it became evident that there was something seriously wrong.After investigating the Dr's explained to us Annabel has epilepsy.Unfortunately Annabels epilepsy is caused by a rare gene abnormality on the Scn2a gene and also causes severe developmental delay.
Annabel was never expected to live and was sent home on palliative care.Over the first year of Annabels life we spent the majority in and out of hospital but thankfully she continued to make small amounts of progress and amazingly Annabel reached her 1st Birthday.
Her second year was one filled with happy milestones,clapping and interacting with us.Though physically she was still unable to,sit,stand or walk,the small amounts of progress gave us hope for the future.Sadly on the 5/10/17 Annabel had a seizure lasting2.5hours and was on a ventilator for 9days.After the Dr's had tried everything we were told if Annabel didn't show signs of improving within 48hrs she was unlikely to survive.Once again we were faced with losing our little girl.Annabel however had other ideas and astonishingly started to show signs of improvement and5 weeks later we were allowed home.
Unfortunately Annabel lost all the skills she had learnt and the year and a half since has been spent helping her learn those skills again.Annabel is happy and making progress but she is unable to do anything independently.Due to Annabels additional needs we need to make adaptations to our home,to help give her the best quality of life and make our home safe for her.We are saving hard and wish we could afford to do it all ourselves but we can't and that is why we are asking for your help, to raise the funds a long side our saving, to meet the shortfall.It is becoming harder and harder to care for Annabel safely at home as she grows so really appreciate any help no matter how small.Thank you x
