Story
Annabelle has four limb Cerebral Palsy. Currently at 19 months she cannot sit independently, stand independently or walk. Since her diagnosis in November 2017 we have been doing everything we possibly can to assist her physical development.
Early intervention is really important to help retrain Annabelle’s brain. Whilst Cerebral Palsy is not curable, allowing Annabelle the opportunity to access as much therapy as she can at an early age, will help her to achieve the maximum potential in her development.
We are fortunate to have two local charities near us who help Annabelle week after week. Annabelle attends Whoopsadaisy for Conductive Education sessions and attends Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity for Conductive Education sessions and music therapy. She recently completed a five week baby massage course there too!
We are running in the 10 mile Great South Run on 21 October this year to raise money for both charities and also to help towards the cost of an intensive therapy block which we are looking to do with Annabelle next year. Unfortunately, the support from the NHS is not frequent enough for it to impact Annabelle in the way we would like and therefore we are grateful for the other sources that are also available to help children with Cerebral Palsy.
Like any other parents we just want our daughter to have the best possible life she can!
Any of our friends and family that would like to run with us are more than welcome! Just let us know!
