    Story

    Hello,

My name is Annais Wright, I am 21 years old and I am going to run the Asics Greater Manchester Marathon on Sunday the 8th of April 2018. As this is my first full marathon I am running and raising money to give to the intensive care unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital as this is a place very close to my heart.

In October 2016 I was severely ill and was then put into an induced coma due to being so ill. I was in the intensive care unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital for two and a half weeks and in hospital for a total of three and a half weeks.

I have returned to my nursing studies after having to take a year off after being in hospital in 2016. I am doing the marathon for myself and also to raise money as I want to do something more for myself and to prove that I am getting better both physically and mentally.

I have ran two half marathons last year and six Tough Mudders with a total of nine Tough Mudders completed in total. I have ran numerous running events including the race for life which I ran for my grandmother who passed away from cancer when I was a few years old.

This year is going to be the biggest year yet!!! I plan on doing: — Netherhall 10 miler, Rat Race 20 miler, an ultra run (55km!), half marathon, full marathon, Europes Toughest Mudder, 16 Tough Mudders and to end my season on a high the pinnacle of my year this year is to complete WORLD’S TOUGHEST MUDDER ALANTA in november!!!!!

I would love to raise more awareness for both mental illness and also to prove that you can get through being on the brink of death, not being able to walk or write to running Tough Mudders, Half Marathons and full Marathons and World’s Toughest Mudder!!!

I am really exited to run this event and to raise money for the intensive care unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital, thank you all in advance.

    Sending lots of love,

    Annais x
