Thank you for taking the time and trouble for reading this letter with regards to Anna Stowell’s attempts to raise funds towards the World Scout Jamboree in 2019 where they will be going to The United States, Mexico and Canada in what must surely be the chance of a lifetime opportunity!

We are immensely proud of our daughter and the way she has conducted herself over the last five years. She has just completed her GCSE’s at Weobley High School in Herefordshire and is awaiting her results.

She will be going on to Hereford Sixth Form College where she hopes to study Criminology, Physical Education and psychology.

Anna has had an amazing time at Weobley and has thrown herself in whole heartedly and achieved so much, which is a credit to her attitude and endeavours.

Since 2013, Anna has taken part in the English ski championships in Bormio Italy, played for Worcester Ladies rugby in the under 15’s National Cup final. She has represented her school at athletics, rounders, netball, hockey and rugby. She has won many events at North Herefordshire and County level and qualified for area competitions at Worcester.

In 2016 she was selected to attend the Talent Inspiration Programme at Loughborough University and achieved the award for the “sportiest” girl at school.

In 2018 Anna was selected to attend a “discover your gold” selection camp in Cardiff, to assess her potential as a future Olympian, however due to the heavy workload of GCSE’s, Injury and her mothers diagnosis with a serious illness she was forced to withdraw.

In addition she is a talented singer and actress being awarded a lead role in the school productions of The Wizz and Little shop of horrors. She has now started to sing at live events at her local public house and hopes to pursue this area.

Anna completed a rigorous application process in order to be selected to attend the Jamboree and we are pleased to say that she has been promoted to patrol leader and will be responsible for a number of younger scouts whilst abroad.

She is in the process of attending a number of mandatory training camps in order to bond with her group and develop her skills, she is on the Young leader programme and is completing her Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze award.

Whilst at Jamboree, she will be with 40,000 scouts from around the world and will be looking to forge friendships and contacts from far afield as well as developing as a scout and a person.

All scouts have been set six personal development challenges and will be looking to bring ideas back to enhance scouting UK.

Annas target is to raise as much of the £4,000 it will cost to attend herself and she is not allowed to be “bailed out” by her family. As such she now has regular employment in The Crown public house in Dilwyn, Herefordshire, runs a tuck shop at local events, will be busking in Hereford, contacting local businesses and walking Hadrian’s wall an 88-mile trek to be completed over six days in August this year.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Anna and we hope she will develop many “life” skills along this journey. We would all be extremely grateful if you would consider sponsoring Anna to complete her Hadrian’s wall challenge or just donate a small amount towards her financial target.
