At, At Play In The Woods we are passionate about learning and we are keen to take our learning to the next level to make it engaging, stimulating and fun. Our project is to build an Outdoor Classroom, accessible to all our guests so we can continue to extend learning opportunities.

We are here for schools and other bookings all year round. There is a strong sense of community and many parents, grandparents and even play leaders attended the sessions and come back week after week.

We are a forest school with approximately 1000 LIKEs on Facebook and already had over 5000 guests in the first year on our new site.

We run annual Winter and Summer stay & play sessions for everyone. We organise Easter egg hunts, Family days and much more.

We are in the fortunate position of having land around the school than other forest schools and want to see these areas used to their full potential for play and learning. We have a long term goal of enhancing all the outdoor space and have been raising funds for this effort. We would like your help in this long term goal by providing the funds for an outdoor classroom, which would be installed for everyone to use.

The outdoor classroom will have a roof and windows on the sides, with benches around the perimeter inside. It will be fully accessible for wheelchair users so that all our pupils and staff can make good use of the classroom.

This kind of facility will enable the children to interact with their environment at different times of the day. It will be available to be used by everyone, at all times of the year. Our holiday club and toddler days which is run by an trained Forest school staff, will also utilise the outdoor classroom. We will also make it available to local community groups who hire the school facilities.

An outdoor classroom will expose the children to different learning styles, it will be a great opportunity for those who do not thrive in the traditional classroom environment. Evidence has shown that this kind of environment can help increase self esteem and improve pupils’ personal, social and emotional development. It will help to make learning relevant as well as giving pupils an opportunity for fresh air and exercise.

Finally the outdoor classroom will even be able to double up as a shelter for parents during wet days!
