    Story

This July a squad of 21 HGS pupils will be visiting Barbados to not only experience the amazing culture, food and sunny beaches but more importantly to challenge themselves in highly competitive cricket and hockey fixtures. This biannual tour is a regular on the school calendar and has produced some excellent results to date.

This year, to assist with fundraising for primarily tour training and playing kit, the tour party have decided to cycle the distance from Folkestone (Kent) to our apartments in Barbados. The entire tour party, including 3 staff members, will be cycling a combined total of 4275 miles on spinning bikes within the school fitness studio in order to raise as much money as possible. This will be completed in stages over the course of 10 days due to important exam commitments for the pupils but each participant should cover at least 178 miles within that period as a minimum.

Based on the speed set on the spin bikes, it will take the group 285 hours cycling at an average of 15 mph. This means each party member will have to ride just under 12 hours in the allotted time frame to ensure the distance is achieved.

Any donations are hugely appreciated by everyone involved and thank you for taking your time to read our story.
