The Fusion software works in conjunction with a relatively new method of detecting PCa known as a template biopsy. This equipment was first used in Bedford Hospital 18months ago. When the template is used in conjunction with another recent development, a multi-parametric MRI scan the accuracy of detection is increased to 88%. The Fusion software enables the accuracy of detection and the cancer's location within the prostate to be increased to 98%. However, not only is the accuracy increased, the software allows the prostate to be viewed internally in colour, in 3D and through 360°, enabling the urologist to better understand the whole condition.
