    Story

Its hard to talk about financial struggles in the digital age, without talking about crowdfunding... which is why I have set up this page. I have a friend in need, she has two dependents one of whom is seven years old and I’m trying to help give my friend the opportunity to overcome her financial burdens through the generosity of others.

My friend is a kind and generous person, who always gives to others even when she herself has barely anything to give. She has helped those in her community, and around the world in crisis through voluntary work and it is only through rotten luck and some injustice that she has ended up in a bleak financial position. But that is her personal story to tell, so one I can’t share.

She has been trying to sell her house for over a year to improve her financial situation as the monthly mortgage payments are unmanageable, but after seven months of time wasting the buyers have pulled out leaving her extremely vulnerable, facing the potential threat of reposession and leaving her and her son without a home and facing an uphill struggle this winter. The loss of financial support from her ex-husband, after a lousy divorce deal and an added cut in her tax credits, following the departure of her still dependent daughter who has just started university, means she is facing the reality of visiting food banks this week so she and her son can eat with the added challenge first of raising some funds to buy petrol and oil for her wreck of a car to get to the food bank. The costs of wraparound childcare and travel to get to work are also, for her, insurmountable.

When looking at setting up this page, I came across this...

“Good friends are like stars, you may not always see them, but you know they’re always there.”

This is one way I’m trying to be a good friend. If you are feeling charitable today, please donate a small amount - even just the cost of a coffee in Starbucks - to help a family in need. Any donation you give will be so greatly appreciated. I would really appreciate you sharing this with your friends and family even if you’re not in a position to donate.

Thanks for reading this and for being my stars x

      What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

      Great people make things happen

Do you know anyone in need or maybe want to help a local community cause?

Create you own page and donʼt let that cause go unfunded!
